First Food

I had my first solid food today, rice cereal... yum!

Nice and clean before I ate.

Tastes funny.

No more, I don't like it!

Just a little sip to wash down the cereal?!

Finally they let me out of that chair!

Father's Day

Jeff celebrated his first father's day by bonding with Cooper while watching the US Open.

We were back in the QC for Ian's graduation party and got to spend time with lots of family and friends!

Historic Hydrological Event

The water started going back down in Waverly yesterday. It is still outside it's normal banks, but the Bremer bridge is now open so we can get across Waverly again. There were a lot of homes affected and everyone was starting to clean up yesterday. Below are some aerial photographs that give you an idea of the magnitude of the flood in Waverly (you can click on the photo to enlarge it). This was higher than the flood in 1999, so they are calling it a "historic hydrological event".

Flood Update

The water is up a little higher today, about 2 blocks from our house. According to the city of Waverly, the river will crest this afternoon, so it probably won't get too much higher. All of the bridges in Waverly are closed, so the only way to get to the west side of town is to take Hwy 63 to Denver, then back up Hwy 218. Jeff and I stayed home from work today because Cooper's daycare is short of staff (and to gawk at the river!). We'll see what tomorrow brings!

100 Year Flood

The water is on the rise in Waverly!

It is expected to crest above the 1999 flood levels sometime tomorrow evening. It seemed like most of the town was out walking or driving around checking out the flooding despite the city's warnings not to go sightseeing! A 100 year flood doesn't happen every day, so of course we had to see it! Cooper didn't seem impressed, he slept through most of our walk.

We are about 2 blocks off the 100 year flood plain. Our neighbors said the water didn't get close to our homes in 1999 so we think we will be ok. But the city is turning off power in the low lying areas without warning, what will we do without cable or internet?!?!

Coop's Big Date

Cooper's friend Natalie came over for a playdate and dinner tonight (along with her parents).

With all the toys around them, they had the best time playing with his feet.
